About AgriQ

Why we exist

Uganda's smallholder farmers feed the nation — yet most cannot get a loan, insure a crop, or find out today's fair price. Banks ask for collateral and paperwork a farmer doesn't have. Insurance is built for big estates. Market prices travel by rumour. When drought or disease hits, families absorb the loss alone.

AgriQ was built in Kampala to change that. We turn a farm's real story — its plots, crops, seasons, and sales — into a digital farm passport that formal finance can finally see and trust. No collateral. No branch visits. Just your farm, speaking for itself.

Everything works on any smartphone browser, in simple language, with MTN and Airtel mobile money — because that's how rural Uganda actually pays. Our mission is simple: make every smallholder farm visible, creditworthy, and connected.

The team

AgriQ is founder-built in Uganda, growing alongside our first farmer cohorts.

Questions farmers ask

Frequently asked questions

Who can get an input loan?
Any Ugandan smallholder farmer with a phone and a farm. You start by building your free farm passport — your plots, crops, and history. The stronger your passport, the more finance it unlocks. You do not need land titles, collateral, or a bank account.
How do I repay, and when?
Repayment is planned around your harvest, not the bank's calendar. Before you accept any loan, the app shows the full amount, the dates, and the total cost in plain language. You repay through MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money from your phone.
What does the crop insurance cover?
Cover is designed for smallholder budgets and protects against major events like drought, floods, and pests. Each policy shows exactly what is covered, what it costs, and how payouts work before you buy — so you always know what you're getting.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your farm records belong to you and are used to get you better finance — nothing else. We never sell your personal data. You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you.
Where does the weather forecast come from?
AgriQ combines satellite and meteorological data to give village-level forecasts and planting advisories — not just a national forecast. It's built to answer the question that matters: should I plant, spray, or harvest this week?
Where do the market prices come from?
Prices are gathered from active markets and buyers across Uganda and updated continuously in the app, so you can compare before you sell and negotiate from strength — not from rumour.
What if I don't have a smartphone?
AgriQ works in the browser of any smartphone — no app store needed, and it's light on data. SMS alerts for prices and weather are part of our rollout, and many farmers start through a family member's phone or their cooperative. USSD access is on our roadmap.
How much does AgriQ cost?
Signing up and building your farm passport is free. You only pay when you choose a product — a loan or an insurance policy — and every cost is shown clearly before you accept.
How do I start?
Open agriq.app in your phone's browser, verify with your phone number, and add your first plot. It takes minutes. Your farm passport starts growing from day one.
